Have you looked at photos for kitchens in interior design magazines and thought something like: “wow, they must be filthy rich to afford such spacious kitchen”. Have you ever thought that these kitchens are not spacious or anything, and that the truth is that the designers have succeeded in making these kitchens “look” spacious? We shall teach you the tricks these designers use to enlarge tiny kitchens.
1- Get as much natural light as possible inside your tiny kitchen. Sunlight has this amazing quality of making small areas seem larger. Therefore, you must make sure that you have a window or two that provide you with as much sunlight as possible. If anything, sunlight will make everything clear and easy to spot in your tiny kitchen and doing kitchen work will be much easier.
2- Since we have established the importance of sunlight in making your tiny kitchen seem bigger, how about some additions that will aid sunlight in its task? Paint your kitchen walls and furniture with bright colors and soft shades. Also make sure that the paint you use has a high shine. Satin, gloss, and semi-gloss paints have a shiny finish that will help in reflecting natural light.
3- The more elements your eyes have to focus on, the more your kitchen will look crowded and tiny. Reduce the clutter so that you could lessen visual clutter and trick your eyes into thinking the place looks bigger. Put away everything you do not need. Install high cabinets to have more storage space and keep your kitchen appliances there.
Using a small kitchen is not the end of the world. In fact small kitchens have their own charm. You will not spend a fortune on decorations and paints and you will be able to work comfortably without having to move here and there.
